Ecstatic Dance Portland: STRYKER STEELE

We are kicking off the month of July on Wednesday July 2nd!

This week’s workshop will be Dancing Between Structure & Flow with Akash Gaman (@akashgaman). In this workshop, we’ll begin by grounding into the body through breath and simple Qi Gong forms. From there, we’ll explore tutting and waving—not just as styles, but as meditative patterns that teach us rhythm, presence, and discipline. As the music builds, we’ll move from form into freedom, allowing our unique expressions to emerge. Akash Gaman is a movement and healing arts teacher based in Portland, Oregon with over 25 years of teaching experience and he is the founder of the Sky Walking Institute of Healing and Meditation.

We will then dance into a DJ set from Stryker Steele Ft. Diana Graciela @strykersteele_music @urmomsfavrockstar (https://soundcloud.com/strykersteele) Colorado based artists Strykersteele and Diana Graciela are merging their sounds of psychedelic world bass and indigenous mexica vocals to create a special ecstatic dance experience for practitioners. Stryker’s performance in the live electronic band 3420 has created a unique Ableton live set including many genres. When combined with Diana’s powerful vocals, a heart opening live journey emerges. Join us for a night of experimental bass music accompanied by moving ancestral song.

We will close out the evening with a sound healing from Aurabird (@heartbeathealingsound)
